School-Aged Student Tuition
Piano, Class Lesson, and Recital Payments for K-12 Students
After deciding with Rene on your child’s lesson day and length, choose the correct categories below to calculate a total tuition amount.

August 15, 2026 (Term is August 31-December 17, 2026)
Winter
January 3, 2027 (Term is January 4-March 30, 2027)
Spring
March 20, 2027 (Term is April 1-June 17, 2027)
Summer
May 29, 2027 (Term is June 18-August 26, 2027)
Late fees are $20.
Tuition for private lessons includes class lessons and recitals if scheduled. Theory Mastery Day is included in Winter Term tuition because it is required of all school-age students, except optional for Primer level.
Registration fees for Fall Festival, Bach/Baroque Festival, and Sonata Festival are not included in regular tuition and are paid separately when Rene sends the payment request. Books are not included in tuition.
Preferred payment method for all students is Zelle through your bank. Please include the student name and what the payment is for. You can find Rene at r@renej.us or 703-362-4699.
Payment of tuition indicates acceptance of Studio Policies.
Piano Parent Crash Course
September 21, 2026, October 5, 2026, October 12, 2026. A three-week course to support parents in helping their children get the most out of piano lessons. The course is $100 for the whole program or $40 per class, with a minimum enrollment of two per class.
Week 1
Overview of the studio plan for the year, charts, festivals, recitals, general expectations, studio policy, and swap list.
Week 2
A typical lesson, lesson assignments, practicing strategies, solving issues in a piece, and how to be supportive piano parents.
Week 3
Technique, terms, using a metronome, ear training, sight reading, and preparing for recitals.
Parents: What does tuition cover?
- Membership in professional organizations, continuing education, and attendance at state and national music teacher association conferences
- Annual music teacher certification dues
- Trips to the music store and individualized planning
- Studio expenses including piano tuning, computer, copying, and website
- Self-employment taxes, business license, and property tax
- Support for festivals and competitions
- Private lesson time with your teacher
- Group lessons multiple times during the year
- Regular recitals two to three times per year
